Now, dinner parties can be simple, and they can be elaborate; it all depends on what you are going for. If you want something intimate, then I would suggest keeping it simple. If you want something elaborate, then by all means, go all out!

The timing of the party is critical.  High noon is the worst time to have a party. The last thing you need is for you and your guests to melt in the heat. If you are hosting a brunch outdoors, then before noon would be ideal, lunch during late afternoon and dinner late evening.
